They say if you enjoy what you do for a living, you will never have to work a day in your life. I believe that’s how it goes anyway….
Lately I’ve been digging around on the internet and researching different ways that one can make legit money online. First I found a site that would pay me to take surveys but the surveys take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes to complete and they use this point system to get you your money. Personally, I want to earn money online doing something that interests me.
So here are a few ways that I have found to make some extra money online.
Legit Ways To Make Money Online
If you do a Google search on ways to make money online, you will find thousands of different ideas and programs that claim they can help. Some are scams and some are not. I’ve found that if you include the word “Legit” in your search it helps.
The most popular ways that I have found are:
- Start a blog (Affiliate Marketing)
- Take online surveys
- Get rebates for shopping (Ibotta)
- Sell your old stuff on eBay
Now I know there are several other ways to earn money online. These 4 ideas in my list tend to be the most popular and the one’s that I have experience in.
Start A Blog (Affiliate Marketing)
Let’s start with Affiliate Marketing. Do you have a hobby or something that interests you? Are you knowledgeable about this interest or hobby? Well, you can actually start what’s known as a Niche Website and just fill it up with blogs about whatever niche (hobby/interest) that you choose.
The reason it should be something that interests you is because you will spend a lot of time researching the subject and writing about it. And it doesn’t hurt to be knowledgeable about it but that’s not entirely necessary. You have access to all kinds of information at your fingertips. Just Google or YouTube it! 🙂
I found a system that is actually a friendly, supportive community that offers superb training in affiliate marketing. It’s called Wealthy Affiliate. They will teach you how to set up your own niche website and ultimately monetize your blogs with affiliate links that promote certain products related to your niche. Take Online Surveys
Like I said this isn’t my personal favorite, but it can be a legit form of income. And of course you should do some research and weed through all the scams. And once you find one that seems legit, I would try to find some reviews about it for more information before you dedicate your time to taking surveys.
Here’s a list of the top 5 online survey sites:
- Survey Junkie
- Swag Bucks
- Inbox Dollars
- Ipsos iSay
- LifePoint
Personally, I just find these paid surveys boring to fill out. I mean you can really make some decent money on the side doing some surveys on your free time. Check some of these out and see how you like it. And let me know what you think in the comment section below.
Get Rebates for Shopping (Ibotta)
Ibotta really is a cool app in my opinion. My wife laughs at me sometimes when we get home from Wal Mart and I’m like, “Hold on. Let me scan the receipt with the Ibotta App on my smart phone.” And we will get like 50 cents.
But if you do it right and log into the app when you’re making your grocery list (I don’t always do that), you will see that certain brands offer more money back than others and ultimately you will get a higher rebate.
You can also use it for online travel like Hotels.com and Travelocity. It works with home improvement stores, convenience stores, restaurants and bars, etc. It’s worth downloading to your smart phone and giving it a shot. That’s all I’m saying.
Sell Your Old Stuff On eBay
I had gotten laid off from my job about 5 years ago. To help me stay afloat and able to pay my bills I went through some of my old video games and comic books that were just collecting dust in my closet and put them on eBay. I got a nice chunk of change for some of my comics too because they were worth a bit of money.
But here’s something that other people do if you don’t want to sell your stuff. Some people actually make some good money flipping things on eBay, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, etc. They buy low and sell high.
Some of them go to thrift stores like Good Will or garage sales and they look for certain things that are popular on eBay like books or antiques. Depending on how much of a profit they can make, they will buy it and flip it online.

Hi Billy, I agree with you totally. It is so important to engage in a job that you really like, as you can handle the daily work challenges much better. I´m saying this from experience as I have an offline business, and though it is hard work, I can dedicate hours to it and never get bored. In saying that, I am also interested in online business for the future, and that is how I came across your article. I like your idea of affiliate marketing and will be looking into it further. I already sell used stuff on a locally 2nd hand App. I also do translation work sometimes and a little bit of trading. I will be sharing this with friends also as I like your ideas here. Thank you.
